Funny Face

This girl has so many faces--a pouty lip look, mouth open wide look, smiles from ear to ear look , sneaky-squinty look, crackin' up look, and her sweet girl look. There's even so much more.

Magnum Opus

I'm currently reading Charlotte's Web written by E.B. White to my third grade class. It's my sixth or seventh time reading it, but who's counting? I remember doing a 8-10 page paper in my Children's Literature class. And boy, did we dissect every page, from symbolism to quotes, and even various overarching themes. But every time I read it, new students bring in a whole new experience.

As for myself, I do notice that I'm much more emotional this time around. I guess I'm reading it with a different pair of eyes. I'm reading it from a mother's perspective. Wow! And there's a snippet from chapter 19 that made me realize that Fiona's the finest thing I've ever made.

"What is that nifty little thing? Did you make it?"

"I did indeed," replied Charlotte in a weak voice.

"Is it a plaything?"

"Plaything? I should say not. It is my egg sac, my magnum opus."

"I don't know what a magnum opus is," said Wilbur.

"That's Latin," explained Charlotte. "It means 'great work.' This egg sac is my great work-the finest thing I have ever made."

Easy Like Sunday Morning

It was actually Sunday afternoon. But after all the parties and errands, it was nice to end the day meeting friends and having frozen yogurt at The Golden Spoon. Around the corner from the yogurt shop, there's this artificial grass area where turtle statues act as rides for the kiddies. It leaves lots of room for the imagination!

Music To My Ears

Over the weekend, Fiona finally called out, "Mama!" Sometimes it'll come out , "Nana". But nevertheless, she finally said it. It was definitely evident that she was speaking to me. She was sitting in her activity center and giving me that look. The look that meant, "Please, pick me up." I was sorting out the mail and watching her through my peripheral vision. To get my attention, she started yelling and shouting. Then I heard those sweet words, ma ma, na, na, na. I paused. And as I came closer, her arms were already stretched out and her feet were dancing around. I just had to pick her up.
